Debbie Sweeney holds a Master of Social Welfare (MSW) degree from the State University of New York at Albany. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and a Certified School Adjustment Counselor. Debbie has more than 20 years of psychotherapy experience and training with teens and adults around a variety of concerns including self esteem, identity, stress management, conflict resolution, depression/mood disorders and anxiety. She also specializes in issues related to Marriage (Prepare and Enrich Certified for engaged and married couples), healing from Divorce, Eating Disorders, Trauma Survivors and Grief /Loss. When working with individuals, couples and families, Debbie employs different treatment techniques (such as Cognitive-Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Task Centered, Structural, Strategic) depending on need. She draws upon people’s strengths as an important component to their success and helps attend to the whole person so they can modify their environment to support their treatment goals. Debbie also has experience integrating a Christian perspective into the treatment process for those who desire this approach.
